Eight years of building experiences that matter.

2018 — Founded in Rotterdam

Broken Egg started as a two-person studio with one conviction: that cultural institutions deserved the same quality of digital experience as the best consumer apps. We built our first AR installation for a Dutch history museum and never looked back.

2021 — Expanding to the Gulf

A commission from a major cultural institution in Dubai opened a new chapter. We established a MENA presence and began working with the region's rapidly growing museum and heritage sector, bringing our European craft to a new cultural context.

2023 — TimeLeap - The R&D Lab

Awarded a €1.43M EU Horizon grant, we opened Broken Egg Labs in Faro, Portugal, in partnership with the University of Algarve. The lab is where we prototype the technologies that will power the next generation of museum experiences.

2025 — Living Paintings goes live

Our first fully AI-animated WebAR experience - Living Paintings - launched at Stedelijk Museum Breda. Visitors point their phones at historical paintings and watch figures come to life. No app, no setup, just wonder.
