About the project
Claiming the Metaverse
At the height of the metaverse, the Aquarium of Paris set out to become the first aquarium in the world to open its doors in this new digital space, a pioneering move at the time. Broken Egg helped them claim that position with a digital experience that turns online curiosity into real connection with marine life, always asking what would make it meaningful for the visitor.
Building a Playful Ocean World
Broken Egg researched the emerging platform landscape and chose Spatial for its open access, then designed a gamified world around the aquarium's celebrated jellyfish. Built in house alongside four marine biologists, and tested with the aquarium's own community, the four-chapter experience invites visitors to explore, play, and learn, guided by a jellyfish character created for the project.
10,000 Dives Into Jellyverse
Featured on Spatial and embedded on the aquarium's own site, Jellyverse reached around 10,000 players and earned international press coverage. It gave the aquarium an early foothold in the digital world and marked the beginning of a lasting creative partnership.
