About the project
Ahead of the Curve
The Aquarium of Paris consistently embraces new technology. When blockchain and NFTs reached their peak, Broken Egg helped them become one of the first cultural institutions to give jellyfish a permanent, scientifically accurate home on-chain, building a community around their most iconic species while the space was still new.
Sixty-Two Species in 4K
Working hand in hand with the aquarium's scientists, Broken Egg 3D modeled 62 species, 90 detailed models in total, each rendered in 4K with rarity mapped to real-world rarity. The team solved the defining creative challenge of a convincing jelly texture, and engineered a custom payment system so anyone could collect with only an email address, no crypto wallet required. Every piece grants lifetime access to the aquarium.
A Lasting Digital Library
The outcome was one of the first scientifically grounded jellyfish collections on the blockchain, created at the peak of the trend and permanently timestamped, held by a dedicated community. Its 3D library lives on across later projects, and the community it created helped shape what came next.
